Apple Pan, located in Los Angeles, is a fabulous vintage (1947) restaurant. Like a portal to the past, this tiny building packs in people all day long. When we had lunch, we hovered against the wall waiting for counter stools to open up.
Hamburger and apple pie are the specialties and they are delicious. The staff grills to order and cooks right in front of the counter creating an atmosphere that is definitely vintage. Hamburgers come paper wrapped and soft drinks are served in the can with a old-fashioned paper cone fitted in a metal holder.
Don't go on Monday. Apple Pan is closed (rookie error on our part!). They are open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Location: 10801 West Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles.
