Clack, Clack, Ding, Sigh

Clack, Clack, Ding, Sigh

The New York Times has a great article today on old-fashioned typewriters.  I miss these great old machines.

Surveyor Embossing Seal

High gloss black enamel with gold painted embellishment make this a beautiful but still functional desk-type embossing seal.  The seal is for a surveyor in the state of Ohio.  Heavy it is and in my life, functions occasionally as a door stop.

Apple Pan--Quality Forever!

Apple Pan, located in Los Angeles, is a fabulous vintage (1947) restaurant.  Like a portal to the past, this tiny building packs in people all day long.  When we had lunch, we hovered against the wall waiting for counter stools to open up.

Hamburger and apple pie are the specialties and they are delicious.  The staff grills to order and cooks right in front of the counter creating an atmosphere that is definitely vintage.  Hamburgers come paper wrapped and soft drinks are served in the can with a old-fashioned paper cone fitted in a metal holder.

Don't go on Monday.  Apple Pan is closed (rookie error on our part!).  They are open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Location: 10801 West Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles.

Vintage Valentine's Cards

This collection of Valentine's cards are from my mother.  Mildred was her Aunt.  We called her Aunty Mo.  You can see more of this collection on my Vintage Valentine's Blog.

Vintage Pattern

After becoming vintage myself, I really appreciate vintage things around my home. I decided to create this blog to share special vintage things from my life.

The first thing I will share is this great vintage pattern.
The pattern originally cost $.35.  The copyright is 1952.
